Accommodations: Volunteers will stay in a rural estate called “La Farnesiana ” on the slopes of the Tolfa mountains. The estate covers an area of over 400 hectares, of which 200 are woodland and Mediterranean scrub. This is the typical habitat of Maremma cattle, an ancient breed, now at risk of extinction. In the area there are about 250 species, which live in the wild. The primary structure comprises a picturesque medieval village, a large neo-Gothic church from the mid-19th century, and an imposing 18th-century barn. You will share a same gender room with up to 6-8 volunteers, with shared bathrooms and showers.
Food: The staff prepares breakfast, lunch (picnic style) and dinner at the accommodation and restaurant of La Farnesiana. They can adapt the menu to vegetarian diets and any allergies, but it would be difficult to provide solely vegan food.
During the program, the local organization will organize nights out in the town of Allumiere and local hiking excursions in the nearby Tolfa mountains. Volunteers have weekends free to explore Rome and other exciting destinations in Italy. We can also arrange organized tours for an extra fee once in Italy.
