Join a volunteer teaching program in Cusco, Peru, where you can make a meaningful impact on communities while immersing yourself in the rich history and culture of the Andes. Your Schedule at a Glance (Minimum One-Week Commitment):
Arrival Day, Sunday: Arrive at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ), where a friendly representative will greet you and take you to your homestay in Cusco. Use the day to relax, unpack, and get acquainted with your surroundings. Take a stroll to experience Cusco’s lively streets, local markets, and welcoming atmosphere.
Monday: Join a mandatory orientation session at the program’s Spanish Academy in Cusco, where you will learn about the program’s goals, cultural etiquette, teaching strategies, and project logistics. This session will help you build confidence, understand your role, and prepare for a rewarding volunteer experience.
Tuesday to Friday: Your host family will accompany you to the project site on your first day of volunteering, where you will receive additional project orientation. Following this, you will begin your morning or afternoon volunteer shifts (3-4 hours) at schools or community centers. If you’re enrolled in Spanish classes, these will take place during your free hours, allowing you to make the most of your time in Cusco.
Evenings and weekends: Explore Cusco’s vibrant culture, historical landmarks, and enjoy local cuisine. Take part in optional excursions or simply relax at your accommodation.
Remaining Weeks: The remaining weeks will follow a similar schedule of volunteering Monday-Friday and having Saturday-Sunday free. Departure is on a Saturday.
Location of the Project: Cusco, Peru, a historic city in the Andes.
Project length: Min 1 Week – Max 12 Weeks
Arrival Airport: Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ), Cusco.
Volunteer Work: Teaching English and engaging in educational activities.
Age: Min age of 18 (participants aged 17 may apply with parental consent).
Number of volunteers: Varies, typically 5-15 participants.

From the iconic Inca Trail to the colorful festivals celebrating Incan and Spanish traditions, Cusco promises an unforgettable experience for volunteers and travelers alike.
About the Organization/Program

About the Volunteer Work
As a volunteer, you will assist with English language instruction tailored to the needs of children and adults. Your role includes preparing lesson plans, engaging students in creative learning activities, and offering general support to the project. Volunteers often work in one-on-one settings or small groups, making a direct impact on students’ progress.

A Typical Day
A typical day begins with breakfast at your accommodation. Depending on your schedule, you will spend the morning or afternoon at your assigned project site teaching or assisting local educators. Afternoons are often free for Spanish classes, preparing lesson plans, or exploring Cusco. Evenings are a great time to relax, socialize with fellow volunteers, or experience the local culture.
Internet: Most accommodations offer Wi-Fi, though speeds may vary. Free internet is available at the Spanish Institute.
Laundry: Laundry services are available at accommodations or nearby facilities for an affordable fee.
Accommodations: During your program and optional Spanish Immersion Week, you will stay with a welcoming middle-class Peruvian host family. Rooms are shared with 1-3 same-gender volunteers, and you’ll have your own house key for flexibility, provided you respect the household’s routines. Host families are conveniently located within 10-25 minutes of the Spanish Institute, accessible by foot or public bus, and will guide you to the institute on your first day.
Food: Two daily meals, breakfast and dinner, are provided at your accommodation. Expect a mix of traditional Peruvian dishes featuring fresh local ingredients. Special dietary needs can often be accommodated upon request.
